TWO 70's SUPREMES "EASTER EGG" ALTERNATE TAKES - ORIGINALLY FOUND ON 'GREATEST HITS & RARE CLASSICS' CD AND TAPE

It was explained by the compilation producer about the 70's Supremes: Greatest Hits & Rare Classics CD - he'd originally wanted it to be a 2-disc set but the Motown execs at the time told him "NO!", and had to reduce his original track listing for 2 CD's to a single disc's worth of music - but on the cassette version of the same compilation, he'd used different cuts that weren't on the CD version of GH&RC, as well as an alternate take of one of their singles on each format.

I'd noticed these alternate takes a couple years before I was on the internet regularly, as I'd owned the collection when I lived in Orlando and listened to it on my way and back, to and from work @ Disney World and before I knew everyone from the 70's Supremes Clan, friends since 2000-01.

On the CD version of Greatest Hits and Rare Classics, the mix of "Everybody's Got The Right To Love" is a totally different vocal take than the version used on the original LP and 45 RPM single version.

On the cassette release of GH&RC, a much different (and much better) alternate take of "Touch" was the up-until-then-unreleased surprise track from the cassette compilation.

The GH&RC CD featured several cuts from their 1975 LP called The Supremes, while the cassette had cuts the CD did not - like "Touch" (in ANY version/mix), "Let Yourself Go" (their final U.S. single), and "Fly", the 1977 Motown solo recording by Scherrie Payne.

In order to get everything, you had to buy both the CD and tape and unfortunately both are now long ago out of print.

The alternate stereo mix of "Touch" was later reissued on the 2000 Diana Ross & The Supremes 5-disc boxed set, however the alternate mix of "Everybody's Got The Right To Love" was only released on the CD of Greatest Hits and Rare Classics and hasn't been remastered/reissued on any CD release since that one compilation disc.
