The original Japanese arcade (and Famicom) game which was pretty much tweaked as a RPG and repackaged as Goonies II for the American NES. I don't see much difference other than you begin The Goonies with kicking as your defense while in Goonies II, your beginning weapon was a yo-yo.
Just like the NES "sequel" game, I found this one confusing and didn't know where to go, except fighting enemies on the main floors of the clubhouse (which is eventually invaded by the Fratelli brothers).
At least in both games, you get an 8-bit rendition of Cyndi Lauper's single "The Goonies R Good Enough"!
