JEAN, MARY & LYNDA: LIVE IN JAPAN 1973

A couple of my favorite performances from the quadraphonic live LP from 1973, In Japan! (Jean Terrell with Mary Wilson and Lynda Laurence).  This must have been recorded right before Jean and Lynda bolted for the door and left Mary to rehire Cindy Birdsong and new lead singer, Scherrie Payne, the following year.

Out of all the groupings, Lynda and Mary together singing background vocals were my favorite combination, and sounded their best on Jean's interpretation of "Stop! In The Name Of Love".  I'd edited that together with the "New Hits Medley" (featuring "Up The Ladder To The Roof", "Automatically Sunshine", "Floy Joy" and "Nathan Jones").

In Japan! was a limited CD release and it looks like that hippo has a few copies left.  The Volume 1/Jean Terrell Years 3-disc boxed set has unfortunately already sold out.  The 70's Supremes are that good!
