FRIDAY FUN - 80's DJ MIXING: MENUDO 7" MIX 1986

One of my several DJ mixing projects and this one's appropriate for the new season:  Menudo was a pre-Nsync, pre-NKOTB even pre-New Edition boy band from Puerto Rico, who I didn't know had originally formed sometime in the 70's, releasing LP's in their native tongue for several years.  In the early 80's, they started crossing over (much like Tejano/Mexican singer Selena in the mid 90's) with a single from Cannonball Run's soundtrack and a live performance in the street for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade (1983 or 84).  WAY before Ricky Martin was ubiquitous and shaking his bony-ass "bon bon", he was one of the shorty members of Menudo, joining sometime around 1981-82 - and as kookoo rules goes for Menudo members, had to leave the group upon turning 16 (PEDO managers, methinks.  Nasty m*thaf*ckas GROSS!!!!!).

Like NKOTB, I can tolerate about 5 of Menudo's songs still today.  "Sabes a Chocolate", "Gimme Rock", and these two from their all-English 1986 LP Can't Get Enough.  Ricky Martin is in the group at this time, but isn't singing lead on either one I used in this 2-in-1 7" Megamix:
