ROCK IN ATHENS CONCERT -
PART 1 of 3:
01: INTRODUCTION
+ GOING ONSTAGE
+ OPENING INSTRUMENTAL FROM
"CHURCH OF THE POISON MIND"
02: I'LL TUMBLE 4 U
03: IT'S A MIRACLE
04: HEAVEN'S CHILDREN *
05: GOD THANK YOU WOMAN *
06: TIME (CLOCK OF THE HEART)
* = denotes premier live performances of songs from the then-upcoming LP 'FROM LUXURY TO HEARTACHE" [1986]
SIDE NOTE:
Maybe it was the heroin boosting George, but I liked this particular concert performance even better than the live shows from 1983 and 1984 that have been released on DVD/VHS, when they were having one hit single after another. George has more energy, doesn't run out of breath a lot as he used to do (another thing to consider is THIS stage costume is way less heavier, shorter hair and weighed less at that point).
I also liked their final 80's LP From Luxury To Heartache the best. Only one really big hit single from that album ("Move Away") in 1986. I had it on cassette back in the day and since it was skipped when their first 3 LP's WERE remastered/reissued a few years ago, I had to get the CD as a Germany import. Still was worth it, even better IMO than their commercially successful Colour By Numbers from 1983. George's lyrics were more introspective on the final album of their heyday.
